Adult Literacy
This program targets elementary school-aged children 7 - 12 years old who are reading below grade level and want to improve their reading and writing skills.
How to Apply:
Eligibility is based upon residency, teacher recommendation and assessment results. Applications are available in the Children's Department or you may download an application.

When and Where:
Paul A. Biane Library at Victoria Gardens:
- Mondays and Wednesdays
- 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
- 5 - 6 p.m.
- 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays
- 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
- 5 - 6 p.m.
- 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Archibald Library:
- Mondays and Wednesdays

Volunteer to be a Tutor:
Do you enjoy being with kids? There is an on-going need for dedicated individuals to participate
in this program. If you are over the age of 16 and have 3 hours to donate each week, please consider
volunteering. Training is provided. Just fill out a volunteer application and submit it at the circulation
desk at the library. Check back for dates on the next training session, to be held in the Fall. Call 477-2720 ext. 5072 for details if you would like to get involved.
History:
The Back to Basics program began in 1998 after the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library's Telethon raised $52,000 to provide a learning center for school-aged students. In October the State Library awarded a $50,000 matching grant to begin the tutoring program.
